Description of ANMLDR Calcs

The reason for the program's creation was that I noticed that when I needed to calculate a value, I often had to search through many textbooks to actually find the formula that I needed. While creating the program, I usually had from 10-15 textbooks at my side. The formulas that I wanted to include in the program were scattered throughout these textbooks.

The ANMLDR-Calcs program is a way to have all of these formulas for conversions and calculations available in one place. . .in your hand. ANMLDR-Calcs will be both a time saver and a life saver for your patients. When they need you, you will not be searching for a formula in a textbook.

The program has formulas for over 60 different calculations and over 100 conversion factors.

The different calculations included in the program are:
  • Absolute Reticulocyte count per microliter
  • Acid Base Ratio
  • Arterial Blood Pressure_Mean
  • Bicarbonate/Base Deficit
  • Blood Transfusion-Patient (Calculate the amount of blood needed)
  • Blood X-fuse--Expected % PCV Increase (Find expected PCV increase when a given amount of blood is transfused)
  • Body Surface Area Conversion (Finally! No more looking for this in a table or having to sign online)
  • BUN:Creatinine Ratio
  • Carbonic Acid from PCO2
  • Clin Path Analytes-SI-->US (115+ different analyte values will now be easily converted)
  • Clin Path Analytes-US-->SI (115+ different analyte values will now be easily converted)
  • Constant Rate Infusions
  • Corrected Calcium
  • Corrected Chloride
  • Creatinine Clearance
  • Creatinine Ratio-Urine:Serum (No brainer, but hey. . .it doesn't take up much space)
  • Dilutions (I'll bet that you hate to do these and are never sure if they are correct)
  • Dissolved Oxygen in Plasma
  • Donor-% Blood Volume Donated (Find out if the amount of blood to be donated is safe to withdraw from a donor)
  • Donor-Maximum Blood Withdrawal (Find the maximum amount of blood that the animal can safely donate)
  • ECF deficit (Find the % dehydration of an animal that has a known prior PCV)
  • ECG (Count the number of small boxes and calculate the intervals)
  • ECG Mean Elect. Axis (You will never need to plot the values again to find the MEA)
  • Echo values--Canine and Feline (No need to search for tables in books or sign online to find these anymore)
  • Enteral Nutrition-Based on the calculations used and recommended by Dr. Remillard
  • Enteral Nutrition-Based on the calculations used and recommended by Dr. Wingfield
  • Equine Estimated Weight (No I didn't forget the large animal vets out there this time :-)
  • Estimated Platelets
  • Fluids--24 hour needs, K + supplementation and drip rate calculator
  • Fractional Excretion
  • Fractional Shortening
  • Gestation for dog:
--Parturition date based on LH surge, diestrus or first breeding
--Days before parturition based on US findings
  • Gestation for cat: Based on Head diameter or body diameter
  • Gestational Periods for 12 species based on breeding dates--Result is predicted date of parturition
  • Glascow Coma Scale
  • Henderson-Hasslebach Equation
  • Kilograms to Pounds
  • MCV-MCH-MCHC
  • Mean Arterial Pressure
  • Osmolal Gap
  • Osmolality
  • Parenteral Nut-Partial-Based on the calculations and recommendations of Dr. Freeman
  • Parenteral Nutrition-Based on the calculations and recommendations of Dr. Remillard
  • Parts Per Million (ppm) (Especially needed by large animal vets)
  • pH
  • Potassium Supplementation (Easily calculate the amount of supplement to add)
  • Pounds to kilograms
  • Proof Alcohol->Percent Solution (Great in an emergency for those antifreeze dogs--Use this and then use the dilutions calculator)
  • Reticulocyte Production Index
  • Reticulocyte-Corrected Percentage
  • Serum Anion Gap
  • Strong Ion Difference
  • Temperature ¡C to ¡F (I'll bet that you can never remember which formula to use)
  • Temperature ¡F to ¡C
  • Units-->mls to administer
  • Urinary Protein Loss--Estimated Daily Loss in the Urine
  • Urine Protein:Creatinine Ratio (another no brainer but it took up little space)
  • WBC--Corrected Count
  • Equine Estimated Weight
  • Parts Per Million (ppm)
  • Vol of Rectangular/Square Trough
  • Vol of Triangular Trough
  • Volume of a Cylinder (Calculate the volume of a silo and then use the ppm calculator)
  • Volume Truncated Cone (Pail)
